The 23-year-old had fallen out of favour at St James' Park having made just nine appearances in all competitions for Alan Pardew's side last season, and he has already figured five times for the Seasiders since joining last month.

Gosling initially signed a three-month deal to keep him at Bloomfield Road until January, but he says he would welcome the idea of extending his spell until next May.

"If the club want me here and Newcastle agree, then I'll sit down and talk. I just want to keep performing well and keep us high in the table," he told the Blackpool Gazette.

"It's a nice feeling to walk out and get 90 minutes football every week. I just have to make sure I can keep my position in the team."

The former Everton man says he is already reaping the rewards of playing regular football, although he admits the 3-2 defeat at home to Ipswich left him frustrated.

"I feel I'm getting better each week, though Saturday's result against Ipswich was disappointing. I don't think we deserved to win, though," he said.

"It's the first time since I've been here that we haven't played well, and in this league you have to be at it every week. If you aren't, you get punished, and that's exactly what happened at the weekend."
