Tuesday's game against Norwich City will mark 12 months since the full-back made his debut for the Magpies after his arrival from Lille, where he played alongside Cabaye.

Debuchy will be available for selection again after serving a three-game suspension, following his straight red card against West Brom on New Year's Day.

Cabaye told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle "It was difficult for Mathieu when he first came here last January because the team was not doing well. It is always tough to change your country and your club.

"He couldn't speak English or understand it, so myself, Sylvain (Marveaux) and Gabby (Obertan) used to translate for him. It took a bit of time for him to adapt, but now he understands what the Premier League is about.

"He has a great mentality, great fight and great fitness, and is a big player for the team. I've played with Mathieu for the last seven or eight years, so we know each other.

"It's easy. Sometimes I don't even need to look to the right side. I know where he will be there and I just have to send him the best pass I can to get him forward. After all this time it's natural."

The Magpies will be hoping to build on their impressive season with a win against Norwich, which could see Alan Pardew's side climb into seventh position.

e doesn't need a caoch. He needs a bus. A bloody big one, that he can park across the goal line. And when he gets one, he can do us a favour and let us know where we can buy one from as well.
