Newcastle striker Loic Remy and Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson were sent off towards the end of the 0-0 draw following a spat which resulted in the duo going head-to-head on the touchline.

Remy, who had earlier hit the post and the bar, reacted furiously when the pair squared up and Johnson reeled backwards after a coming together of foreheads.

Visiting boss Alan Pardew insisted Johnson's reaction was enough for referee Chris Foy to brandish the red card while City counterpart Chris Hughton labelled his player's dismissal as 'incredibly soft'.

A number of players from each side became involved in the resulting altercation and the FA has now charged both clubs, although Johnson has since has his red card overturned on appeal.

In a statement, the governing body said: "The teams have been charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

"The charge relates to an incident in or around the 82nd minute of their match on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 and the clubs have until 6pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 to respond to the charge."

think that puts all doubts over Benteke's quality to bed. Can he do it after receiving the ball to feet, in the box, totally unmarked, on a warm, sunny afternoon in Swindon? Oh yes he can! This year is definitely Liverpool's year. YNWA.

ll very well selling all midfield and strikers but unless we bring anyone in that is better than what we had then it will be a terrible transfer window in my view. Sorted out the defense but our midfield and striker options look very light.

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!
