The Senegal international, who had earlier been denied three times by Eagles goalkeeper Julian Speroni, powered substitute Hatem Ben Arfa's cross home in the fourth minute of added time to snatch a 1-0 win with his first goal since January 4.

His goal helped Newcastle to their third Premier League victory in four games and afterwards he said his winner was for Pardew, who was serving the second game of his three-match stadium ban for headbutting Hull City's David Meyler.

Cisse told Sky Sports: "Yesterday (Friday) the gaffer spoke to all the players and asked for us to do our best and try and get three points because it would be good for the team and the staff.

"So the team (dedicate) these three points for the gaffer (as a) thank you for speaking yesterday.

"I had too many chances to score. I think this year had been too hard for me.

"I wouldn't say it hasn't been my year, but it's been too hard.

"It's good that I've had a lot of chances to score (today) but the goalkeeper was in good form. I kept going and the goal came in the last minute. It was a good win."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
