Other than the Community Shield, which he lifted in his first competitive game for United in 2011 following his £18million switch from Aston Villa, the 27-year-old is yet to claim any silverware in his time at Old Trafford.
He will not be doing so in the Champions League either this season following defeat to Real Madrid last week.
However, United remain 12 points clear in the Barclays Premier League title race ahead of Saturday's visit of managerless Reading, while Sir Alex Ferguson's men still harbour FA Cup hopes after a draw with Chelsea.
And success in either competition would justify the reason Young switched to the Red Devils in the first place.
"I joined the club to win trophies," said Young.
"When you move to a club like United, you look at the trophy cabinet and what they have won.
"In the dressing room everybody is a born winner. The manager gives you that belief to win every game and win trophies."
Yet Young's second season at United has not been entirely satisfactory.
A couple of knee injuries have prevented him getting into a flow of games, contributing to a rather disappointing return of 19 appearances.
"I have had a fair few injuries this season. That has been disappointing for me," said Young.
"I have got myself back fit now. Hopefully I can kick on now until the end of the season."
Just as goalkeeper David De Gea's late save from Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata was crucial in staving off defeat in the FA Cup, so this weekend will be crucial in consolidating United's status as champions-elect.
For, as Young points out, winning is habit-forming and at the business end of the season that is exactly what United are looking for, even on the training ground.
"At a club like Manchester United winning is a habit," said Young.
"You go into every game wanting to win and there is a disappointment when you don't do it, and that includes during training.
"Even there it is the same winning mentality you take that on to the pitch in games.
"Overall, our results have been fantastic and the confidence from that has spread from the manager through to all the players and staff."
