United could collapse and still win it. Having said that no-one expected them to bottle it last year either but one thing is pretty certain: there won't be any dramatic endings with the last kick of the last day this year. So following the almost inimitable example set by Fred Done last season, could I be one of the first to congratulate United on their inevitable Premiership win, won in style with goals, quite a few exciting matches, no blips and making extensive use of crocks like Ferdinand, Giggs and Scholes who we all thought were finished with top class football. Oh and not to forget the septuagenarian manager whose peerless genial disposition and willingness to share a joke or a confidence with the press is such a joy to behold.

It there really much of a story left in this? Just do the math and the probability. What about a question like, do you think United can top 100 points?
