Cesc Fabregas: Shunned Manchester United interest in favour of staying at Camp N

David Moyes made the former Arsenal midfielder a top transfer target upon inheriting the managerial reins at Old Trafford from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Interest was expressed and big-money bids lodged, but no deal was struck.

Fabregas was kept updated throughout a window of intense speculation, but insists he never gave serious consideration to a Premier League return.

The Spain international is a boyhood Barcelona fan and remains determined to forge a successful career at Camp Nou.

Fabregas told the Daily Mail ahead of Saturday's El Clasico with Real Madrid: "I never planned to go back this summer.

"It's true that they had offers and they told me about them but the only thing in my head was staying at Barcelona.

"I saw the stories and I spoke with Darren (Dein, his agent) and he said: 'What do you want to do?'

"I know that if a club come in for you and you tell your representative that you want to go, then you go. All that's missing is that the club accept the offer. It's easy.

"But at no time did I say that I wanted to go. It was clear in my mind that I wanted to succeed at Barcelona."

ever ceases to amaze me when ex players come out with comments like that. Clearly they have zero interest in the best interests of a club that provided them with a living to be making such idiotic and boorish comments as that. Shame on you Jimmy Case.

ait, so now he can get injured when he's not on international duty? It's almost as if his previous injury could've happened at any time and being with the England squad had nothing to do with it.
