LMA 'reviewing' technical area

Richard Bevan, chief executive of the League Managers' Association, admitted that his organisation are currently looking at ways of making improvements to the technical area, which could help prevent a repeat of the ugly incident witnessed at the KC Stadium over the weekend.

Richard Bevan says LMA are looking at improving the technical area

On Saturday, Alan Pardew was involved in a touchline spat with Hull midfielder David Meyler who clashed with the Newcastle manager as he tried to recover a ball that had gone out of play.

Pardew thrust his head into Myler's face and now faces a heavy punishment from the Football Association.

Bevan said the LMA are in the process of evaluating the dynamics of the technical area, with a report expected to be published by the end of the season.

He told Sky Sports News: "In the last 12 months we've been reviewing the technical area and we're doing a lot of work on this.

"We'll have talked to over 40 managers and referees as well as looking at other sports such as basketball, ice-hockey, American football, rugby and cricket and seeing how we can help to limit the issues we do get in the technical area from time to time.

"It's not a major problem, as we've only had a handful of incidents this season in over one thousand games.

"But in the Premier League, there are cameras focused on the managers throughout the games but it's important we get out the right message."

Regarding possible changes to the current laws, Bevan added: "The focus is on looking at the physical dimensions, the positioning, the rules of who is allowed in the technical area.

"I'm told Rotherham and Cheltenham are very good in terms of the distance apart and the report will be completed by the end of the season."

As for the Pardew incident itself, Bevan went on: "It was unacceptable and inappropriate.

"It was a moment of madness and Alan apologised immediately and unreservedly to Hull City, their fans and to Newcastle fans.

"And it was good to see the interview with Steve Bruce (Hull manager) who accepted the apology on behalf of the club."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
