Christian Benitez: Reported to be a target for Tottenham and Atletico Madrid

The 27-year old had a loan spell at Birmingham City during the 2009/10 season, in which he only managed four goals.

But he has found his form in Mexico recently, netting 30 times in 43 appearances last season.

Benitez is currently on international duty with Ecuador but Pelaez remains hopeful of keeping hold of his star striker.

"We are still waiting, communication is complicated right now because he is with the national team while we are here, but we hope the situation is solved and that he stays at the club," he told Mexican newspaper Record.
