Villas-Boas hails deserved win

Andre Villas-Boas said Tottenham deserved to win after Paulinho's last-gasp winner sunk Cardiff.

Sunday's game at the Cardiff City Stadium looked to be heading for a draw when Paulinho scored with a back-heel deep into injury time.

Earlier, Cardiff keeper David Marshall had pulled off a string of outstanding saves to keep his side in the game and Villas-Boas said the three points were fully deserved.

He told Sky Sports: "I think we created so many chances that there could only be one winner today which was Tottenham and it took us some time to get it.

"But throughout the game we created so many chances that we deserved to be leading the game much earlier on.

"So I think it was the right reward for the amount of things that we created.

"We are playing so open and in such an attacking way that we could have left ourselves exposed and ended up suffering but I think today there was justice and we were rewarded in the end."

Early on, Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris appeared to have handled outside the box when he robbed the ball from Frazier Campbell's feet after a poor Kyle Naughton back-pass but he was not sent-off.

Villas-Boas added: "I haven't seen the replay to be fair, if there is any controversy there, but I think it was probably the only moment that he (Campbell) escaped in behind us and we were able to deal with it."

terling needs to be told though that upon entering the Arsenal squad he will re-enact the final scene from Highlander where he will be thrown around a warehouse by cartoon dragons and then be a mere mortal that will only ever spend three to four weeks a season playing football and the rest on the physio's bed. There can be only one.....player available at The Emirates.

he game changed in our favour when Carrick came on. We were able to play further up the pitch due to having a player who can give and go with the ball and keep possession. Yet barkley made some runs and Townsend scored a good goal but carrick's inclusion and chiellini's withdrawal made the biggest difference to the flow of the game

o, you've not silenced anyone Andros, i'm afraid. We know you can score a great goal, and it's really handy to have your direct running and willingness to shoot on the bench. But until you can do the other things expected of a winger (beat the man, put a decent cross in, stay wide etc) then you can't expect more than a regular cameo. Wonderful goal though, what a hit! No wonder Buffon wanted the shirt.
