Malone: Scored on Cherries debut

Malone: Scored on Cherries debut

The former Wolves trainee had to make do with a place on the bench for Tuesday night's 2-0 home win against Exeter in League One, but his patience was rewarded when he came on to score the second goal.

"It was obviously a nice feeling to get the second goal," he told the club's official website. "I was disappointed to be on the bench, but it's how you react if you aren't starting a game (that is important) and I think I've done no harm for my chances."

Former Crawley striker Matt Tubbs also joined in the window and he opened the scoring for Lee Bradbury's men at Dean Court, before crossing for Malone to secure the win.

And according to Malone, that goal will be the catalyst for Tubbs' Cherries career.

"It was a great ball by Tubbsy and I was quite pleased for him that he got his goal. He was quiet first half as he was feeling his way into the side, but in the second half, Matt and Wes (Thomas) worked well together and that's the start of a great partnership."

his is for the best, his hunger would be in serious question now after winning everything with us. A true Chelsea legend, up there with Osgood and Zola, come back and see us now and then Didier. And as Martin Tyler said on Saturday night....he is immortal at Chelsea. What a way to go out eh....Good luck big man wherever you land next.

ne of the many delights of the final few seconds of the season was seeing little Mike Owen with his trackie off and full replica kit on, getting ready to celebrate having contributed NOTHING all season. Would have been on a par with Terry's carry-on in Munich.
