DJ Campbell: Not ruling out a permanent move to Ipswich

The striker has now returned to parent club QPR after playing the final match of his loan spell, which has been narrowly cut short, in the 3-0 home defeat to Brighton on New Year's Day.

Ten goals in 17 appearances has convinced Town boss Mick McCarthy to put a deal on the table for Campbell, but the 31-year-old knows his future is in the hands of QPR as he returns to train with the relegation-threatened Premier League club.

R's boss Harry Redknapp wants to have a look at Campbell as the London outfit search for the goals required to keep them in the top flight, and the marksman could well get a run out in their FA Cup tie at home to West Brom on Saturday.

Campbell told Ipswich's official website: "I've spoken to the gaffer (McCarthy) and he's made it clear that he would like me here.

"He's put something on the table and if everything is right for me and my family, then staying here would certainly be an option for me.

"I stand by my original choice to come here on loan ahead of the other clubs who were interested and you can see that Ipswich Town are going places.

"The fans have been great towards me and I can't thank them enough. They've been top notch and even when we were struggling they were right behind us."

Campbell continued: "For now, though, I will be returning to QPR and they are in their right to do that as I'm still their player. We will have to see what Harry's (Redknapp) plans are, as he holds the key, but you never know what the future holds."
