Joey Barton: Could be on the move before the transfer window closes

The 30-year-old was expected to have left Loftus Road by now, having spent last season on loan at Marseille as the R's suffered relegation out of the Premier League.

Many of the more high-profile figures in the QPR squad, and their biggest earners, have been moved out during the summer transfer window.

Barton has, however, been welcomed back into the fold by Harry Redknapp and has impressed in a number of early-season showings.

Bond said of his form following a 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday: "Joey has done very well for us.

"He missed both pre-season trips but forced his way into the side, has played all the matches and has been very focused."

QPR are, however, expecting there to be plenty of movement before Monday's 11pm transfer deadline and that means Barton - who has been linked with Everton and would welcome a return to France - could be still be heading out of west London.

Bond added: "I really don't know. Nothing would surprise me."

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
