Redknapp: Contracts can wait

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp says those players waiting on contract extension talks will have to be patient.

Rob Green: Among those to have entered the final year of their current contracts

Key performers such as goalkeeper Rob Green and vastly-experienced centre-half Clint Hill are among those who have entered the final year of their current deals.

They have helped to re-write the history books at Loftus Road, with eight successive clean sheets secured in the league.

Such fine form has helped QPR to shrug off last season's relegation disappointment and position themselves among the Championship front-runners.

Redknapp is keen to ensure that focus remains locked on a promotion push and is prepared to shelve deal discussions until the end of the campaign.

He said: "I won't even look at it. There is no point. You need to look where you are at the end of the season.

"You can't be offering people new deals at the moment. There is no rush.

"We will wait and see how we go. A lot depends on where we end up. But we have to look carefully at the money we spend on wages next year."
