Mike Petrasso: Benefiting from regular senior football

The teenage winger linked up with the Latics in November and has made five appearances during a short-term spell in League One.

His initial agreement is due to come to an end after Saturday's clash with Colchester United.

Petrasso is, however, keen to stay on at Boundary Park until the New Year.

The 18-year-old said in The Chronicle: "I'm really enjoying it. I've been getting minutes and the coach wants to play the right way.

"There's a big difference playing in senior football compared to development games, which are more focused on the performance.

"Results are much more important here, and with big crowds screaming at you it's pretty nerve-wracking!

"My loan's up on 22nd December. I would like to stay for another month because I feel I'm getting better with every game."

The Canada U20 international will see his current contract with QPR expire in the summer, but he is determined to show Harry Redknapp that he is deserving of fresh terms.

He added: "This is the last year of my contract, so hopefully I show what I can do and earn an extension to stay at QPR for another couple of years."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
