The Celtic captain is waiting to see if he needs surgery on a hip muscle problem that has plagued him all season.

But manager Neil Lennon is preparing for the trip to Turin on 6 March without him, and expects Brown to sit out matches against Wales and Serbia for his country later that month.

"Oh yes, I would imagine so," said Lennon, when asked if the midfielder would be sidelined for all three fixtures.

"He is out indefinitely. We are still waiting to hear from the specialist, whether he requires surgery or not and I am hoping we get a definitive answer by the end of the week."

Lennon confirmed he will be without Mikael Lustig (thigh) against the Italians but hopes fellow defender Charlie Mulgrew (glute) will be fit.

"Lustig is still out and Charlie Mulgrew... they are the only three absentees," Lennon added.

"Lustig is out for two to three weeks. It is bone bruising so it could even be longer.

"So I imagine he will miss Juventus but we are hoping Charlie will be fit to travel to Italy."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
