Massadio Haidara: Was stretchered off after McManaman challenge

The Latics forward, on his first Premier League start, committed a reckless knee-high challenge on substitute Haidara during Wigan's 2-1 win at the DW Stadium, causing the Newcastle player to be stretchered from the pitch.

McManaman went without punishment for the tackle, with Magpies manager Alan Pardew revealing referee Mark Halsey apologised to him at half-time for missing the challenge.

Taylor, currently sidelined with a long-term injury, took to Twitter to voice his disbelief over the incident.

"Nothing to do with the scoreline an the fact it was a red but as a footballer it's the definition of a 's**thouse tackle'," he said.

"Wow. Not even a yellow #baffled."

Newcastle's afternoon got even worse when Arouna Kone slotted in a stoppage-time winner after a goalmouth scramble following a corner, with the Toon players all appealing for handball on Maynor Figueroa.

After the controversial strike, Taylor added: "So Maradona has been teaching Figueroa a few lessons I see #Shocking"
