Milner ready to fire England

James Milner is confident that England can secure two victories in their games in San Marino and Montenegro and take a decisive step towards the 2014 World Cup.

England are currently two points behind Montenegro in Group H but Milner believes they are ready to deliver in these two key fixtures.

"These are two big games for us and we're moving forward all the time and that's a positive. You'll see improvements in the team," he told Sky Sports News HD.

"Both games will be great, the sort you want to play in and they're tough games. It's important we keep doing the right things."

England may have lost Rio Ferdinand and Gary Cahill from their plans but Milner is confident that his Manchester City team-mate Joleon Lescott can step into the breach.

"We still have a strong squad, the players coming in are decent so I have no worries at all," he added.

"Whenever Joleon plays he is ready to go, I see it every day at City. Steven Taylor deserves his chance too, he's been playing well and I know him from Newcastle.

"Hopefully we can score an early goal against San Marino and then get a few more. All we can do is beat them and take it into Tuesday.

"As long as we have a strong squad we have enough quality. We need to make sure we keep our discipline and concentrate on the football. These teams will try and take advantage of these things."
