Massadio Haidara: On the receiving end of a strong challenge from Wigan's Ca

The Frenchman has been sidelined after being on the receiving end of the controversial tackle from Callum McManaman, which has caused a storm since last Sunday's defeat by Wigan Athletic.

Newcastle have been left furious at the Football Association's decision not to take any retrospective action against McManaman and reports have suggested the club might consider legal action.

The furore continues to rumble and Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias told Sky Sports News outside the club's training ground: "He (Haidara) is at home recovering.

"He was here earlier so hopefully we will have some news next week.

"He has had one scan and he is going to have another scan next week."

Questioned further about the extent of Haidara's injury, Llambias said: "It is too soon to say."
