Tom Ince: Prepared to be patient in pursuit of Premier League opportunity

Tom Ince: Prepared to be patient in pursuit of Premier League opportunity

Ince drew plenty of admiring glances from the Premier League in January, with a return to Liverpool widely touted.

The England U21 international came through the academy ranks at Anfield, but opted to join Blackpool on a permanent basis in 2011 after finding first team football hard to come by.

He has flourished at Bloomfield Road, but maintains that he will only step up into the top-flight when the right opportunity presents itself.

Ince told The Sun: "I could have stayed at Liverpool but I wanted to play first team football.

"There is no point being at a Premier League club, driving a big flashy car and not playing on a Saturday afternoon.

"It is about playing and if I am at Blackpool next season, great."

Ince senior plans to have Tom on his books in 2013/14, with Blackpool hoping his presence will work in their favour.

Paul Ince, who took the Seasiders job in February, said: "I think that is why the chairman appointed me. You have to look at what is right for your son.

"Premier League clubs came in for him during the January transfer window but there is no point him going to the Premier League if he is not going to play week in, week out.

"If Thomas said to me, 'This is an opportunity and I want to go', it is his decision. We would have a conversation.

"It's easy to say, 'I want to play in the Premier League' but it is pointless if you play once every two or three months."
