The original fixture was called off on successive days in March due to heavy snow and ice at Windsor Park, and discussions over a new date began soon after.

While Russia were keen for the fixture to be rearranged for June 11, to tie-in with their qualifier against Portugal days earlier, Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill made his frustration clear as his British-based players would have been well into their off-season.

The rearranged game will now be held three days before the start of the Premier League campaign.

A statement from the IFA said: "The Irish FA can confirm that the postponed World Cup Qualifier between Northern Ireland and Russia will be played at Windsor Park, Belfast on August 14 2013; kick-off time to be confirmed.

"A delegation from the Irish FA consisting of the president, Jim Shaw and the chief executive, Patrick Nelson, met this week with their counterparts from the Football Union of Russia and FIFA to agree the new date."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
