Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was pleased with how his side coped against Inter Milan in their latest pre-season outing.

The Blues progressed to the semi-finals of International Champions Cup, being played in America, with a 2-0 win over Inter in Indianapolis.

Chelsea came through thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Oscar, but played the final half-an-hour against ten-men after Hugo Campagnaro was sent-off for a late lunge on John Terry.

Mourinho admits it was not perfect playing against ten-men and he would rather that Inter were allowed to replace him.

"The referee did well, the rules are the rules, I would prefer the referee to allow them to bring another player out and we play 11 v 11, that would be better but that is not football and not the rules," he said on Sky Sports News.

The Chelsea boss was pleased with their latest outing, adding: "There were no injuries, the pitch was not the best, so that is good for both sides.

"I think it is good experience for us, good for them - they play a tactical system that is not easy to play against - three at the back and the full-backs go forward a lot so even tactically it was good for us.

"I can give the players ideas about what I want to do tactically in training, so it was good to see what they were trying to do, like Eden Hazard doing defensive work he does not normally do so I am happy with how the players are working.

Captain John Terry added: "It was a good win, we have had a couple of days training and is good to play 90 minutes. It is good to flush your legs but good for new players to come in on the US tour.

"The fitness we are getting there, and training is getting there."

Romelu Lukaku feels that Chelsea are improving as pre-season goes on, he said after the match: "We are all working hard.

"Pre-season has been tough and we are playing well, we are scoring and not conceding many so hopefully that can continue, we needed fitness, we are in a good way and hopefully we will play better next game."
