Chris Coleman: Set for more discussions with the FAW in the coming weeks

Talks over the 43-year-old's two-year contract extension have stalled, with the Football Association of Wales putting their offer of a new deal on hold after disappointing defeats to Macedonia and Serbia in September.

Coleman's side won their return fixture with Macedonia last Friday and followed that with a 1-1 draw against Group A winners Belgium on Tuesday evening, but the former Fulham boss was cagey when asked about his future at the weekend, suggesting that what he sees as short-termism from the FAW could see him turn down the chance to remain in charge if it is offered.

Coleman's current deal expires after the international break in November and FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford says talks will resume soon.

"We've got Chris until November and we've entered into discussions," he told Sky Sports News.

"Of course there were some disappointing results but we've had conversations with Chris very recently and he'll want to take stock and evaluate the campaign. We will do exactly the same and we'll come back and have a discussion about how we go forward together.

"He will have his own plans and we will want to have those talks in a timely fashion.

"I think on the whole he has done a very good job and we need to be understanding of the circumstances of how he took over the team. I think he could be the right person to take us forward and hopefully look for qualification to Euro 2016."
