Mark Clattenburg: Referee still sidelined following allegations from Chelsea

The County Durham-based referee has not been included on the list since being accused of using "inappropriate language" towards Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel during their clash with Manchester United late last month.

The language is understood to have been interpreted as of a racist nature which the Football Association and Metropolitan Police are currently investigating.

A decision had been expected on Monday but it appears likely that it will now happen later this week.

Professional Game Match Officials said the situation had not changed from last week when Clattenburg was stood down amid fears that him officiating would make more headlines than whatever game he was in charge of.

He and referees chief Mike Riley have decided jointly that he should not be in charge of matches while the case is ongoing.

Clattenburg had not been training while the investigation was ongoing - he is reported to have been interviewed last Thursday - but he did return to work with his fellow officials at the FA's St George's Park base in Burton on Monday.

The 37-year-old, who is on FIFA's shortlist to be a match official at the 2014 World Cup, strenuously denies the accusations against him.
