Hugo Lloris: Hoping to earn a regular run in the Tottenham starting XI

The France international moved to White Hart Lane from Lyon over the summer with the intention of stepping straight into the Spurs side.

That has not been the case, with veteran shot-stopper Brad Friedel blocking his path.

It has been suggested that Lloris is already feeling unsettled in north London, but he claims to have accepted the competition for places after making his third Premier League start of the season in a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday.

He told L'Equipe: "Will I remain in the starting XI? You will have to ask the coach.

"I am ready. There have been talks, but it is up to the coach to discuss the matter, not me.

"The important thing is to keep producing good performances.

"Things have not happened as it was forecasted, but that doesn't change my state of mind. I am a competitor, I want to do well and help the team.

"It is good to play, that is for sure, but I have to carry on working hard and take whatever opportunities I get."
