It was confirmed earlier this week that QPR had shelved plans for a traditional end-of-year gathering, and Hill has now explained the players' thinking.
He says they would not feel right to go out and enjoy themselves when the club are struggling so badly in the Premier League.
QPR are currently bottom of the table with just six points from 15 games, and new manager Harry Redknapp will be determined to claim a first win of the season against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
"We haven't really talked about a Christmas party," said Hill.
"The players never set out a date because we don't really think we should be out having a day getting drunk and celebrating Christmas because of the situation we're in."
