Argentinian Mauro Formica completed to his loan move to the Serie A club from Blackburn on Thursday and reports suggest compatriot Boselli could follow.

The 27-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Wigan since joining from Estudiantes in 2010, taking in loan spells at his former club and in Italy with Genoa.

But Martinez insists Palermo are yet to make a move for the striker, who has failed to score in seven Premier League appearances this season but has netted four in cup competitions.

The Wigan manager told mediagol.it: "Boselli to Palermo? Now I can say that there have been no official contacts.

"This is a particular time and there are so many rumours."

Meanwhile, Formica was pleased to join Palermo and is determined to help them avoid relegation, with the club currently second-bottom of the Serie A.

He told the club's official website: "I am very happy to be here, it was a very quick negotiation.

"I know that the situation is complicated and I will do everything to help the team to stay in the Serie A. Being in Italy is a great opportunity for my career."
