Lisandro Lopez: Was a target for Tottenham towards the end of January

With Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas finding himself short on attacking options, he sought to bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window.

Reports in France suggest he made a deadline day approach for Lisandro, with a loan deal put to Lyon.

No agreement was put in place and Lloris feels Spurs have missed out on a player who would have greatly aided their cause.

The France international goalkeeper told L'Equipe: "Lisandro? It seems he almost joined Tottenham.

"He is a great player, charismatic and one who has given a lot to Lyon.

"He is a top player, who works hard for the team and can win matches. He is a player that deserves the best."

Meanwhile, Lloris insists his troubled start to life at Tottenham - as he found himself left on the bench after joining last summer - has been put to one side now that he has established himself as Villas-Boas' first-choice shot-stopper.

He added: "The start of the season is in the past. The coach and I have the same objective, which is to get the team as high as possible. Everything else is behind us."
