Howard: Moyes must stay

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has stressed the importance of David Moyes staying with the club, but he insists that it should not be the concern of the players.

Moyes's current contract expires at the end of the season and speculation is intensifying about his long-term future.

Howard says the players are trying not to think about Moyes and the prospect of him leaving Goodison Park.

"The manager he needs to stay, everyone knows that," he told Sky Sports.

"It is no secret but that is an outside issue and that doesn't concern, currently, the players.

"We have to focus on the task and that is playing and performing, and he focusses on getting us ready for the games and performing and it [his future] is not something he talks about and we just get on with it."

Howard feels Moyes can stay at Everton and match his ambitions, adding: "Players want to stay somewhere where there is success and a manager can't be any different and his ambition is to match ours and vice-versa, but I think we are on the same page."

The American, though, did admit that life without Moyes would be tough and a very hard act to follow.

"It would be difficult for any manager to come in as he has done so well," he admitted.
