Ron Vlaar: Struggling with injury

With their next two games against fellow strugglers Reading and QPR, the Villians could find themselves really up against it if they fail to pick up anything from these vital encounters.

However Vlaar, who has skippered the side in his first season in England, is adamant the players cannot wait to get involved.

"We have had some encouraging performances, which should help everyone's confidence over the remaining weeks of the season," he said in the Express & Star.

The 28 year-old is struggling with a calf injury, but hopes he will be fit in time to lead his team out.

He said: "It happened out of nothing at training. Right now, I'm going from day to day in the hope that it will clear up quickly."
