Redknapp invokes Barca spirit

Harry Redknapp has told QPR they must copy Barcelona if they are to secure their Premier League survival.

QPR head to Fulham for a London derby on Monday night, live on Sky Sports, seven points adrift of safety with only eight matches remaining.

While many laud Barcelona for their passing style it is the work ethic of the runaway Spanish league leaders that has caught the eye of the QPR manager.

"The best teams work the hardest," said Redknapp. "People think the best teams just play football. It's a fallacy.

"The best team in the world is Barcelona and they are hardest-working team. They work harder than anyone else without the ball and they work harder than anyone else with it.

"We've got to work hard too. It's not a case of picking scrappers. Whoever I pick, whether they think they're skilful players or not, they've all got to work.

"We can get out of it. We're playing well. If we were in bad form I'd be more worried.

"That gives us a chance. With eight games to go, that's positive for us. There are four or five wins for us in the games left.

"We've got to go to Fulham and win the game. It's a local derby, we'll take a huge following with us. We want a positive result."

Redknapp insisted that Adel Taarabt, who has been in and out of the team since he took over in January, has a vital role to play for the run-in.

"He is a great talent but, like everybody, he has to work hard," he added.

"When you do what he can do you're never going to be consistent. The only one who does play like that is Lionel Messi but he works his socks off, too.

"Bobby Zamora is back and that's a big plus. We're in good shape. We have to perform like we did against Chelsea. It's in our hands, it's up to us."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
