Fourth-placed Spurs go into Saturday's trip to Swansea on 54 points - four clear of an Arsenal side with a game in hand.

Back-to-back Premier League defeats have brought the Londoners back within their rivals' sights, but Villas-Boas believes his side remain on course for a top-four finish.

He said: "Normally to finish in the top four requires something in the 70-72 point margin.

"Seventy is usually enough to be in the four spots. There are 24 points to be played for so that means we need 16 more points. You never know, but I think at this time we are within our objectives."

Victory over Arsene Wenger's men at the start of March left Spurs seven points ahead of their neighbours, and Villas-Boas felt emboldened enough to claim the Gunners would find it difficult to escape their "negative spiral".

Now it is Spurs' temperament in the spotlight again, a year after the side managed by Harry Redknapp were caught by Arsenal in the final weeks of the season.

"It's happened before but it doesn't mean it has to happen again," Villas-Boas said. "Circumstances are different, training is different, players are different so it doesn't have to happen again."

aha, as a German supporting United I can only agree with your great insight in German football! No idea why, but I HATE Eintracht Braunschweig and please don't ever place a bet on Leverkusen, they mess up my ticket every time!
