The midfielder is up for Sunday's award along with Old Trafford team-mate Robin van Persie, Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale, Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Chelsea pair Eden Hazard and Juan Mata.

Carrick has been in majestic form this season, which has seen him help United to the Premier League title and become a key man in the plans of England manager Roy Hodgson in the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

And the 31-year-old former Tottenham and West Ham United star is both flattered and delighted to have been recognised for a fine campaign.

"It is a great honour to be nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award by my fellow professionals," said Carrick in association with PUMA.

"It has been a great season for Manchester United and being nominated for The PFA Player of the Year award as well as winning the league caps a wonderful season for me."

PUMA have also used ProZone data to support the argument Carrick should be voted as the player of the season ahead of Van Persie, Bale, Hazard and Mata.

- Carrick has completed 2501 passes this season, the highest in the league.

- He has an 82.4 per cent success rate for forward passes, compared to the average Premier League midfielder's 72.8% success rate.

- He makes 73.3 successful passes in a match, compared to the average Premier League midfielder's 37.7 successful passes.

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
