Rio Ferdinand: Contract talks progressing nicely

The 34-year-old's current contract expires this summer, but United are keen to tie down Ferdinand to a new deal.

Ferdinand played an instrumental part in United's Premier League title success this season, making 34 appearances in all competitions.

A number of clubs have been keeping tabs on Ferdinand's contract situation, but United are confident of securing his future before the end of the season.

Ferdinand's representatives told Sky Sports: "Talks regarding Rio's new contract are moving along nicely and hopefully we will have some news soon."

Ferdinand is expected to sign a one-year extension to extend his 11-year stay at Old Trafford.
