While Gareth Bale is expected to leave for Real Madrid before the window closes, Spurs have also spent heavily on reinforcements.

Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli have all arrived at White Hart Lane and Lloris says they are ready to help Tottenham push for a Champions League berth.

"It is the life of football that some movement happens and you try to put them in the best condition to help the team to win and realise our objectives," the French goalkeeper told Sky Sports News ahead of Sunday's match against Swansea City.

"It is important to have a strong team so that we can challenge the other teams to finish in the top four."

Defenders Steven Caulker and William Gallas have left Tottenham this summer but Younes Kaboul has returned from a long injury lay-off and Lloris has been happy with the way they have defended so far this season.

He said: "We are happy also to have Younes back in the team.

"We try to gain confidence altogether and be strong and it is important to be focused."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
