Jamaal Lascelles: At centre of incident which took place over three years ago

The Toffees have been sanctioned by the FA after breaching regulations relating to football agents over the incident involving Jamaal Lascelles.

Defender Lascelles, who is now 20, was part of a scholarship scheme at Forest at the time when the breach was made.

Both Lascelles and his then-agent Andy Niedzwiecki were also heavily criticised by the FA.

Niedzwiecki was fined £10,000 and warned as to his conduct.

Lascelles remains at the City Ground and is currently being linked with possible moves to Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham.

An FA statement reads: "Everton have been fined £45,000 and warned as to their future conduct after breaching the FA's football agent regulations.

"The breach relates to the club's unauthorised approach to Jamaal Lascelles whilst the player was under a scholarship agreement at Nottingham Forest in the latter part of 2010.

"Andy Niedzwiecki, the football agent who was representing Mr Lascelles at the time, has been fined and Jamaal Lascelles, who also admitted his part in the affair, has been severely warned as to his future conduct.

"The time-frame for any appeal has passed."

And Everton have accepted the punishment handed down, saying in a statement: "We accept the findings of the FA inquiry."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.

It's fair to say that the 'Moyes Out' brigade is understandably out in force, whilst there are also staunch defences of Mourinho and Arteta. Plus, Liverpool fans can almost taste it.
