Andre Villas-Boas: Manager of the month for December

Spurs have moved up to third in the standings after winning four games and scoring 11 goals during December, including a 3-0 win at Fulham and a 4-0 success at Aston Villa.

"It's been an excellent December for us and we've managed to put ourselves in the kind of position that we want to be," said Villas-Boas.

"We sit third in the league, but it is where we finish at the end of the season that matters."

Robin van Persie took the player honours as he continued his impressive form for the Premier League pace-setters Manchester United.

The Dutchman found the net five times as United won five of their six Premier League games during the month.

Van Persie told Sky Sports News: "I do feel we are getting stronger every time we play and we are getting better.

"We are only seven points ahead and we have to play everyone one more time, nothing is decided. It will be tough this weekend against Liverpool. It is a massive game for lots of people.

"But in the end it's about the three points. We have to look at it game by game."
