The highly-rated Holland international is believed to figure in the thoughts of Premier League bosses currently drawing up lists of potential targets.

A number of scouts from England have been deployed to watch Strootman in action, with Arsenal and Manchester United among those to have cast an eye over the 23-year-old.

It is being reported that a fee close to £17million would be required to do a deal, but that figure is unlikely to concern those clubs leading the chase.

Strootman is aware of the mounting interest in his services and admits he is open to offers.

He said: "Every transfer window there are clubs interested. But a club must speak to me first."
