Sean McGinty: Set for a loan switch to Tranmere

League One promotion hopefuls Tranmere are hoping to beat Thursday's loan deadline to bring McGinty to Prenton Park.

Rovers boss Ronnie Moore is a big admirer of the Republic of Ireland youth international and is keen to bring him in to bolster his defensive options.

McGinty, who came through the ranks at Charlton before moving to Manchester United in 2009, is highly rated within the corridors of power at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old can play at left-back or as a left-sided centre-half and he has enjoyed spells out on loan at Morecambe, Oxford United and Carlisle over the last couple of seasons.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to farm out McGinty on loan for the remainder of the season so that he can continue his development with regular first-team action.

m not sure about this distance covered malarky, plus that stat comes with *since February attached to it, that's just 1 month. I mean I have 27 open cases I'm 'working on' at the moment but believe me others with 10 cases work harder than I do. I just got back from a pub lunch, scampi and chips (+4 pints) in case you were wondering.
