United 'saw Sneijder bid fail'

Galatasaray sporting director Bulent Tulun has told a Turkish newspaper that the club snubbed an 'indirect offer' from Manchester United for Wesley Sneijder.

Wesley Sneijder: Galatasaray playmaker was reported to be a target for Mancheste

The apparent approach came a fortnight before the transfer deadline passed in England, as United left it late before securing the services of Marouane Fellaini from Everton.

David Moyes turned to a man he knows well from his time spent in charge at Goodison Park after missing out on several other targets.

United were reported to be close to landing Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera, were said to have joined the chase for Mesut Ozil - who ended up at Arsenal - and failed with a big-money bid for Real Madrid's Sami Khedira.

Galatasaray have now claimed that the Red Devils also tried to lure Sneijder to the Premier League, with the Dutch playmaker having been regularly linked with a switch to Old Trafford for some years now.

The Turkish giants were, however, unwilling to discuss a deal, with it important for them to retain the services of key men.

Tulun told Milliyet: "Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United two weeks ago but it was not accepted.

"There are several clubs that want him but just like we can't let go of Burak (Yilmaz), we also have to keep hold of Sneijder."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
