Ashley Young: Handed first start since the derby defeat

Young returned to the side for Tuesday night's cup tie against Norwich and played his part in a convincing 4-0 win at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old winger had been absent from the side since the dismal 4-1 defeat against Manchester City in September, but is keen to force his way back into David Moyes' plans.

"I have not played since the City game," he told MUTV. "I have been waiting my time and I wanted to get out there and impress.

"I felt I did well, I enjoyed the game. We will have to wait and see what the manager thinks come the weekend."

Exciting young duo Adnan Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha were also given run outs against Norwich and Young admits there is a healthy competition for places in the squad.

He said: "You just have to look at our squad - players that haven't played have come in and done well.

"Everyone did their jobs. As a whole it was a great team performance.

"Scoring four goals and creating more opportunities to score goals was brilliant.

"From the first whistle there was only one team in it and that was us."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
