United's title odds slashed

Manchester United's odds of retaining their Premier League crown have almost halved with Sky Bet following a near perfect weekend of results for David Moyes' men.

A 1-0 victory over leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford saw them move to five points adrift of their visitors and prompted their title odds to come in from 8/1 to 9/2.

The Gunners actually remain the same price as which they started the weekend at 7/2 due to slip ups from fellow contenders Manchester City and Chelsea, who are now 13/5 and 7/2 respectively.

Tottenham's defeat at home to Newcastle on Sunday has seen them drift from 20/1 to 28/1 while Liverpool are in from 9/1 to 13/2 thanks to their 4-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, with Luis Suarez the 9/4 favourite to be the Premier League's top goalscorer.

Robin van Persie, who scored the winner at Old Trafford, is now one behind Suarez with seven goals and can be backed at 9/2 for the golden boot.

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "We've had to significantly reshape our title market following a weekend of upsets and plenty will be ruing not backing United at as long as 10/1, having suddenly propelled themselves back into the mix.

"Moyes' men are actually the second best backed side in our outright so it is fair to say plenty of punters refused to lose faith during their difficult start."

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
