Cesar Azpilicueta: Happy at Chelsea

The Spanish full-back moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer from Marseille.

However, the 23-year-old was not rushed into action and did not start his first game until the beginning of November.

Now under Rafa Benitez he is a regular at right-back and he is enjoying the challenge.

"I didn't play a lot during my first weeks here, but that is logical," he told L'Equipe.

"When you join European champions, you cannot expect to be immediately in the starting XI, I worked hard and always had hope."

Cesar admits that the Premier League does differ from Ligue 1.

"In England, it is more physical and the pace is higher, sometimes in the second-half it is quite mad," he said.

"But my two seasons at Marseille helped me a lot to adapt. The pressure is just the same. At Marseille, you have to win every match. At Chelsea, it is the same. The difference is here you play to win every trophy. I came for that and to grow as a player."

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
