Demba Ba: Still recovering from the broken nose he sustained at Newcastle

Ba pulled out of Tuesday's game in Paris after suffering a broken nose when he was kicked in the face by Fabricio Coloccini in last Saturday's 3-2 defeat at his former club Newcastle.

Chelsea are already without goalkeeper Petr Cech for the visit of the Latics to Stamford Bridge.

Cech withdrew from the Czech Republic squad for Wednesday's friendly in Turkey after a scan revealed he had broken a little finger in the game against Newcastle.

Ba wished his Senegal team-mates luck in his absence. He wrote on Twitter: "All the best to my senegal's boys tonight vs guinea.... wish i could be there. All the best 2 alain giresse for his debut as senegal manager."

Meanwhile, Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has promised not to take any risks with Chelsea defender David Luiz, who is a doubt for Wednesday's friendly against England with a calf injury.

Luiz suffered the injury in the dying minutes of Chelsea's Capital One Cup semi-final against Swansea on 23 January and has not played since.

Scolari decided to keep the 25-year-old in his squad for the game at Wembley but he will not play unless he passes a fitness test.
