Amin Affane: Back at Chelsea following loan spell in Holland

Amin Affane: Back at Chelsea following loan spell in Holland

The 19-year-old playmaker moved to Holland in August on a season-long agreement.

He initially saw plenty of first-team football at Roda, but fell out of favour in February and has subsequently been deemed surplus to requirements.

Affane is pleased to be back at Stamford Bridge, having been welcomed back into the senior fold, and is looking to push on with his promising career.

He told Fotbollskanalen.se: "I have had three training sessions.

"It's nice to train with the A team. That is the level you need. I have met (Rafa) Benitez. He praised me after training."

Affane has also lifted the lid on the reasons behind his premature departure from Roda, with it his opinion that relations with coach Ruud Brood soured following the departure of sporting director Gerard Wielaert.

He added: "He started to pick on me. We were struggling in the league and the coach was under pressure. I thought that was the reason.

"He gave me instructions on how to act defensively in Dutch, which I didn't understand. When I asked what he meant, he got angry."

Split

Roda see things slightly differently, claiming that a parting of ways had been coming for some time, but feel the decision to send Affane back to England will prove beneficial to all concerned.

General director Marcel van den Bunder told De Limburger: "It's not just one incident. It's a process with several occurrences which led us to split. He didn't feel in the right place with us."
