Christian Benteke fired Villa in front but Lampard equalised to draw level with Bobby Tambling's previous mark and then netted his 203rd Chelsea goal to secure a vital win.

Benitez told Sky Sports: "I said before, hopefully he can score two goals then we don't need to talk about Frank (any more).

"It's a fantastic achievement for him to score the number of goals he has, hopefully he can score more in the next two games."

Chelsea's win could have been more comfortable had the officials judged that either Gary Cahill or Demba Ba's efforts had crossed the line in the same second-half incident.

But Benitez said: "I haven't seen the replay. They told me from another angle it was close, but we cannot blame the referee."

The result almost certainly clinches a top-four spot for Chelsea and Benitez was delighted to claim victory, although they have fitness doubts over John Terry and Eden Hazard ahead of the Europa League final against Benfica.

Benitez said: "It was a good game for us, to get three points in the circumstances was a massive achievement.

"We are in the top four and we will see what happens.

"Maybe we paid too much because John Terry twisted his ankle so we are waiting on the scan. We don't know how serious it will be.

"Hazard also felt something in his hamstring so again we are waiting on a scan. It is a pity for the final, but at least we won."

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
