Juan Mata and David Luiz: Back in the squad after missing Asia tour

A 25-man party flew out from London on Tuesday for an International Champions Trophy campaign which begins against Inter Milan in Indianapolis on Thursday evening (local time).

Juan Mata, Fernando Torres, David Luiz and Oscar, all of whom missed the club's tour of Asia after taking part in the Confederations Cup earlier this summer, have rejoined the squad and could feature in that game.

Chelsea move on to New York this weekend where they will face either Milan or Valencia depending on the outcome of the Inter game.

Jose Mourinho's side then play their final game in the competition in Miami before heading back to Washington for a friendly against Roma on August 10.

The manager's first game in the Premier League since his 2007 exit follows a week later, live on Sky Sports, against Hull City.

Chelsea have added Andre Schurrle, Mark Schwarzer and Marco van Ginkel to the squad which finished third last season, while Romelu Lukaku is back from his loan spell at West Brom.

But Mourinho has so far made no progress in his attempts to sign Wayne Rooney who, according to Manchester United, is not for sale.

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
