Diego Godin: Atletico Madrid defender admits Chelsea tie will be tough

The Spanish club have been drawn against the 2012 European champions in the last four of Europe's premier club competition.

The first leg of the tie will be played at the Vicente Calderon in the Spanish capital on 22 April and the second leg will be held at Stamford Bridge the following week.

Diego Simeone's Atletico got the better of Barcelona in the quarter-finals, drawing the first leg 1-1 at the Nou Camp and winning the second leg 1-0 in Madrid.

The Rojiblancos have been very impressive so far in the Champions League, but Godin admits that they will find it difficult to beat Chelsea, who got past Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight on the away goals rule.

"Now we have another great team ahead," the 28-year-old told Radio Sport 890.

"Chelsea will not be easy at all, they will be very tough. They have experience in this type of situation.

"Both games against them are going to be very difficult. They have a different style than Barcelona, but we have to care about what we can do and try to get the best result possible in the match that we will be playing first at home."

The Uruguay international centre-back also hailed Atletico's performance against Barcelona in their 1-0 home win in midweek.

"We are all very happy for the match we played against Barcelona," said Godin. "The way the fans are enjoying this moment is wonderful.

"What we did in both games is even more impressive because of the quality of the team that we had in front of us.

"Fortunately, we could defeat them and kept on advancing in the Champions League. That is a dream.

"In La Liga, we are going to keep on fighting until the end. We deserved to defeat Barcelona because we played very well."

couple of wins and everything is OK! Sorry you still haven't got a striker who can consistently goals. Keep searching. I don't think Liverpool will make top four not even Europa League this time around.

f he can find the right player? Surely the manager of one of Europe's top clubs has a well-researched short-list and has a good idea of who he wants to bring on-board? If I can find the right player sounds like someone going out on Saturday night on the pull, and the nearer you get to midnight the lower your standards drop.
