Daniel Agger: Anfield contract is up in 2016

The Denmark centre-half is under contract until 2016, but the length of his deal has not prevented speculation linking him with Barca and Manchester City.

"I still have three years left and I intend to fulfil them," he said. "There are always rumours, but who is creating them? I don't know.

"It is not a bad thing to be linked with top clubs but you have to take 70% of the speculation off and then you have the reality."

Agger will lose regular partner Jamie Carragher to retirement at the end of the season.

He said: "Jamie speaks for himself. To be at that level for that long, it's not impossible but really close.

"You learn from every single player you play with in training. If you want to be the best you have to learn from the best."

With Agger ruled out of Liverpool's last two games of the season with a back injury, the Reds confirmed the Denmark international would undergo treatment.

In a statement on their official website, Liverpool said: "The club's medical team and associated specialists have decided to undertake a series of elective injections to enhance the stability of the defender's back.

"Liverpool believe this pro-active action and planned rehabilitation programme will have long-term benefits for the 28-year-old's career for both club and country."

irst Townsend, now Chiles. What next ITV? Comedy that you can actually watch without vomiting up your own spleen? I'll be sad to see Matt Smith go though. I actually quite like him. Plus, he was good in Doctor Who.

wful, awful pundit. He was crap on BBC, and offered a little more analysis than Robbie Savage - apart from the delivery of banality in a sexy accent. Also, as I'm Irish he'll never be more then a slimy, hand-balling f**ker in my eyes.
