The Uruguayan recently returned to action following a 10-game ban and in his two Premier League outings has banged in three goals for the Anfield club.

Liverpool are currently second in the table, trailing leaders Arsenal on goal difference only.

And Rodgers told the club's website: "With Luis, he demands the best from himself and his team-mates at all times, and we saw that against Crystal Palace, even right at the end when the game was won.

"You see his work-rate and his demand for a better ball into the box, and that's what we want.

"There was a moment in the first half where he chased back on the left and won the ball, too.

"There is no doubting his commitment and there is no doubting he will always have that desire at all times.

"That attitude from Luis to demand the best is exactly what we want. We can't accept just winning and say it's all right."

Rodgers is desperate for Liverpool to keep their level of performance high and says Suarez is showing the right sort of determination.

"I think it's much easier to keep on performing well and, if you do lose, then you can still go into the next game with confidence.

"We did at Manchester United - we may have lost there, but we played really well, and that gave us the belief to go into the next game at Sunderland with the right attitude.

"But if your standards slip and you start losing one or two games, it's a lot harder to get back up to the level again.

"With the likes of Luis, that demand is what we want - the demand that we maintain our standards at all times. It is an important part of what we are trying to do."

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
